RALEIGH (WTVD) -- In North Carolina, 22 people are diagnosed with lung cancer every day. The five year survival rate is just 18%, a rate that has changed very little since the 1970's.
November is Lung Cancer Awareness month, and the Lung Cancer Initiative of North Carolina is working to help raise that awareness. The Lung Cancer Initiative of NC is the state's leading non-profit supporting lung cancer research and education. The non-profit specializes in connecting patients, survivors and loved ones with the medical and research community.
