Hostage situation in Roanoke Rapids
A man was taken into custody after a standoff.

ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. (WTVD) -- Roanoke Rapids Police took a man into custody Tuesday night after an hours-long standoff.

Police said the man had barricaded himself in a home in the 200 block of Old Farm Road.

The man reportedly was holding his mother hostage.

Police said no one was injured.

Old Farm Road reopened late Tuesday evening.
