Man dies in moped crash in Smithfield

SMITHFIELD, N.C. (WTVD) -- One person died in a moped crashed in Johnston County on Monday morning.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol says the crash happened on Packing Plant Road in Smithfield. An EMS unit drove up to the moped and found a driver underneath it.

The man was declared dead at the scene.

Circumstances surrounding the crash weren't released.
