It's official, we're a blue state

Everyone voted November 4, and Barack Obama won. But it wasn"t official until the North Carolina Electoral College convened Monday to cast its ballots. Some critics have said that the United States is not a true democracy because the writers of the Constitution created the Electoral College. When you go to the polls to cast your ballot, you're not actually voting for the presidential candidate of your choice. You're voting for a representative in the Electoral College who then votes for a candidate.

The founding fathers apparently didn't have full confidence in an unfiltered vote of the people.

Monday, North Carolina did its part. North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine F. Marshall convened the North Carolina Electoral College and added the state's votes to the Obama Column. Now that all 50 states have made their choices, Barack Obama is officially the President-Elect.
