Ambulance driver dies after responding to call

A Wilmington ambulance driver died of a heart attack on the scene of a call.According to the Union Rescue Squad chief, 50-year-old Bonnie McNeill collapsed as she prepared to leave the scene of a medical call Thursday morning.

Chief J.L. Giddeons said McNeill left her home near Willard around 6:30 a.m.to help her colleagues on a call. She joined the squad in 2006 and worked both paid and volunteer shifts for the rescue squad.
