Pilot injured in small plane crash

ZEBULON Wake County Sheriff's officials say the plane, piloted by 81-year-old George Abbott of Raleigh, landed at a private air strip near the intersection of Zebulon Road and Glory Road just before 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the plane's nose was low and hit the ground first, causing minor non-life threatening injuries to Abbott.

He was taken to Wake Medical Center for evaluation. His condition is not known at this time. No one else was injured.

The plane, a single engine Cessna 150, is registered to Abbott.
