North Carolina Lt. Gov. Walter Dalton is making a statement with his feet. He will hold a news conference Wednesday to kick off an effort to deliver thousands of pairs of shoes to needy children in NC. The effort is sponsored by Samaritan's Feet, a Charlotte-based international nonprofit started by Manny Ohonme.
Ohonme, a native of Nigeria, received his pair of shoes at age 9. He eventually won a scholarship to play basketball in the U.S.
Dalton will be barefoot when he holds the news conference on the front porch of the lieutenant governor's office in Raleigh.
