Two die, one critical in Sanford crash

SANFORD Police say Edwin Perez Hernandez and Fermin Patrocino Perez died as a result of the crash. Hernandez and Perez were ejected from the vehicle and found dead at the scene.

Claudia Baudililo Hernandez was taken to the hospital. Officers were told at Central Hospital that Claudia Hernandez was brain dead and was going to be transported to UNC Hospitals for organ donation.

However after following up with UNC they found out Hernandez's neurological functions improved and he was taken off the donor list. He's in critical condition in ICU.

Witnesses told police they saw the truck flipping before coming to rest down an embankment, and saw someone who appeared to be the driver staggering out and fleeing the scene.

After an unsuccessful search, detectives contacted family members, and identified Hugo Alfredo Hernandez as the possible driver.

There is no word yet if police have met with Hugo Hernandez.
