Separate fires kept fighters on their toes

DURHAM

The first broke out near the intersection of Guthrie Street at a used tire business in the 2200 block on Angier Avenue just after midnight.

Investigators have not said what started that fire.

The most recent blaze happened around 5:30 a.m. Sunday morning in a vacant home on Dearborn Drive.

Officials said it appeared there may have been an explosion in the house because the home's front wall was pushed out.

Flames tore through the home, leaving it gutted.

No injuries were reported

Officials are still investigating what may have sparked the blaze.
