Sexual assault suspect turns himself in

FAYETTEVILLE

Authorities with the Fayetteville Police Department said Monday that Dallas Walker was arrested in connection with a sexual assault that happened last Wednesday.

Police said a woman reported that she noticed suspicious activity inside a vehicle parked along Alexander Street near downtown Fayetteville shortly after 2 a.m.

The witness told authorities that a 15-year-old girl and older man exited the vehicle as she approached. She said the man then ran from the scene, leaving the car behind.

Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department determined during their investigation that the 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by the suspect, who was later identified as 54-year-old .

The identity of the victim has not been released.

Walker has been charged with statutory rape, indecent liberties with a child and crimes against nature - which are all felonies. He is currently being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center on $150,000 secured bond.
