Police: Suspects impersonate officers

FAYETTEVILLE

Police were called to a home in the 1400 block of Vandenberg Drive Thursday around 12:30 p.m.

The resident reported that two men came to the door and identified themselves as police officers. The suspects allegedly told the homeowner that they were responding to a call at that address.

The homeowner became suspicious and asked to see the two men's badges. When they were unable to produce any official identification, the homeowner closed the door and called police.

The homeowner told police that's when the two suspects got in their car and drove off.

According to police, the two men were driving a blue, older model Chevrolet Impala with dark tinted windows.

The men were dressed identically in blue cargo pants, blue short-sleeved shirts, and black work boots. One suspect was a black male, approximately 5'7" tall, with a medium build, dark complexion, and short hair. The second suspect was a black male, approximately 5'9" tall, also with a medium build, dark complexion, and short hair.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fayetteville Police Department by calling (910) 433-1856 or Crime Stoppers at (910) 483-TIPS (8477).
