When police arrived, they found Davis dead inside her apartment.

Neighbors told ABC11 that the 58 year old was known for taking time with children in the community. Neighbors told ABC11 she held Bible study and social gatherings for kids to encourage and motivate them.

ABC11 talked to her neighbor who lives next to Davis.

Brandon Owens says he didn't hear anything out of the ordinary the night or morning leading up to when she was found. Now, he's just wondering if it was a random act of violence.

"The fact that it happened so close to home, right next door, it's scary," said Owens. "A few doors down, it could have been me."

The cause of her death has not been determined at this time. It was also unclear whether her death was a random crime or if Davis may have known her killer. No charges have been filed at this time.

Davis' death is the Bull City's 18th homicide this year.
