Former Wayne County deputy arrested

RALEIGH, N.C.

He's charged with four counts of obstructing justice and four counts of stealing, altering and destroying evidence.

Authorities say Thompson committed the crimes as a deputy, but he resigned in June 2012. He was arrested Friday.

Thompson surrendered to SBI Agents at the Wayne County Magistrate's Office and was given a $5,000 unsecured bond.

Prior to his resignation, Thompson had been with employeed with the Sheriff's Office since 2003.
