Crash cuts power near Clayton, crews work to restore service

Duke Energy Progress crews are responding to a major power outage in the Clayton area.

It happened on Shotwell Road, near U.S. Highway 70, after a car crash near the Wake-Johnston County line.

At last report, Duke Energy Progress showed more than 1,600 customers without electricity.

Witnesses say three vehicles were trapped by downed power lines.

Power was also out knocked out to Johnston Medical Center on N.C. Highway 42. Generators were being used for electricity.
