Home heavily damaged by fire near Durham country club

DURHAM

The fire chief says there is severe structural damage and also water damage inside the home in the 200 block of Tennwood Court around 4:15 p.m.

Now, many neighbors in this community are rallying around the homeowners.

The couple living in the home was forced out after a fire, which started in the attic of the home.

One person was taken to the hospital, with non-life threatening injuries. Four dogs inside also made it out safely.

Neighbor says the couple is staying with family in Durham.

The home, which is valued at nearly $1.2 million according to property tax records, is approximately 5,500 square feet.

Fire officials say the cause of the fire was related to the use of a fireplace.
