It happened about 6:40 p.m. in the 800 block of Trotwood Drive.

Officers discovered Kenny Cox in the roadway with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and is listed in stable but critical condition.
Detectives reported Cox and neighbor Onix Gomez, 54, got into an argument that escalated to a fight and Gomez shot Cox.
Police said the investigation was ongoing and no charges have yet been filed.
