Peeping incident reported Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE A female resident told an FPD officer this week that on April 14th a man began banging on her door while she was in the shower. When the woman went to the door, she did not recognize the man and refused to open the door. She also saw him look through a window at the front of her residence before he ran into the wood line.

The man was described as a white male, 5'09" to 6'0" tall with an athletic build. It is unknown if this is the same man linked to a peeping tom incident in Harnett County and three rapes in the northern Ramsey Street area was involved in this incident. Given the presence of rapist in the area, detectives believe the information regarding this recent peeping incident should be given to the public.

Detectives continue to investigate these incidents and patrols remain increased in the area. Police ask residents to use caution and contact the police department immediately if suspicious people or vehicles are noticed in the area.

Residents should:

  • Keep all doors and windows locked.
  • Keep blinds and drapes in a position the do not allow people to view inside your home, especially at night.
  • If you are a female living alone, have a trusted neighbor watch you enter your apartment to make sure you get there safely.
  • Do not exercise alone.
  • Avoid wearing earphones when jogging or walking so you can hear approaching footsteps or cars.
  • Vary your routine.
