Perdue finishes naming cabinet

RALEIGH At a news conference late Tuesday, Perdue announced former legislator Lanier Cansler will lead the Department of Health and Human Services.

Former Bank of America executive Ken Lay will lead the Department of Revenue, and Dee Freeman, former executive director of the Triangle J Council of Governments, will serve as Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources.

The only member of Governor Mike Easley's cabinet to keep his job - Britt Cobb - will remain as Secretary of Administration.

"This team has the experience, the proven record of success, and the leadership skills that are needed to meet these hallmarks. I'm confident they will deliver the best to the people of North Carolina," said Perdue in a statement released to the media.
