Video may aid kidnapping case

GARNER Shelia Shaner told police she stopped at BJ's to get gas Monday morning on her way to work. That's when a man who was allegedly hiding in her vehicle told her to drive to Jordan Lake.

After driving to a remote area, Shaner said she escaped from the man by running and hiding in the woods. The next day she flagged down someone for help on Highway 64.

Police say the suspect may have gotten into her car while it was parked at her apartment.

Police also are investigating the possibility that the kidnapping is related to a Labor Day weekend burglary at the Shaner's home. Police say someone broke into the home, stole jewelry and then set the home on fire.
