Murdered man's son found safe in Minnesota

RALEIGH

Investigators have been concerned about David Green Junior's son's well-being ever since Green was found inside his Raleigh home on Ray Road.

On Wednesday, authorities announced David Green III has been found safe in Minnesota. Wake County sheriff's investigators are currently with him in Saint Paul.

David Green Junior's brother reported him missing on Sept. 1. Investigators had stopped by his home on Ray Road searching for clues into his disappearance when they found him.

Warrants released in the case last week revealed detectives suspect the 51-year-old may have been murdered as far back as January. The warrants said he apparently died of severe injuries from unknown cutting instruments.

Detectives arrested 41-year-old Wendy Edmond Green at her parent's home in Lumberton a day after authorities found Green and charged her with his murder. They say she was David's live-in girlfriend and the mother of David Green III and his 17-year-old sister.

Alexis Green was in the Wake County Jail when her father's body was discovered. She was first arrested for burglary in July, then again in September on charges of failing to appear in court.

Wendy Green had apparently moved out of the house on Ray Road sometime after David was last seen.

Warrants also revealed authorities are seeking financial information related to credit cards belonging to the victim -- items that were allegedly found inside Wendy's purse when she was arrested. Two cell phones were also found inside her purse.

In 2007, David Green Jr. was arrested and charged with assaulting Wendy.

Seven years earlier, he sued Wendy seeking custody of their children. Green also wanted his name to be added to his daughter's birth certificate.

Wendy is currently in jail under no bond. Green's murder is still under investigation.
