It happened around 7 p.m. on Fayetteville Street where the American Tobacco Trail crosses it.
Police say a man attempting to the cross the street got hit by a vehicle.
He was taken to Duke Hospital with serious injuries.
There's no word yet on the man's name or whether any charges will be filed.
