Log truck flips over in Sanford, 3 injured

SANFORD, N.C.

It happened just before 4 p.m. at Highway 15/501 at Deep River Road.

Trooper say three vehicles were involved in all.

They say it happened when a van was trying to make a left turn into a gas station when the log truck went into the center lane to try to avoid hitting the van. However, the truck still hit the van, and overturned.

Logs then struck a vehicle in the southbound lanes.

The driver of the van, 29-year-old Carlton Lee II, of Sanford, was airlifted to UNC with serious injuries.

The driver of the log truck, Stevie Cameron, was taken to Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford. The driver of the southbound car also went to Central Carolina Hospital.
