Neighbors say the body was found on Thursday, and investigators from Fayetteville Police, the U.S. Army and the FBI were in their second day at the scene Friday.
Late Friday, sources said the death appeared to be a suicide.
Officials haven't released the woman's identity, but did say she was a former Department of Defense worker at Fort Bragg.
A Fort Bragg spokesman would only confirm that the woman worked on post until November 2007. The spokesman would not what dept she worked in or what if any security clearance she may have had.
