Troubleshooter Diane Wilson investigates body shop problems

GOLDSBORO, N.C.

It is a complaint I hear often, your vehicle is in the shop, the deadline for the fix was days if not weeks ago. Unfortunately, you are at the mercy of the repair shop.

"The deer actually hit right here and pushed the bumper in a little bit," said Sam Lilly.

It was not much damage, but it still needed to be repaired. Sam took his truck to Doug Henry Buick GMC in Goldsboro back in November.

"When I took it to the body shop, they said they would have it before Thanksgiving," Sam said.

However, two weeks after Thanksgiving, Sam still did not have his truck back.

"They were still giving me excuses saying that the transmission lines are still being worked on; we can't order the right part," Sam said.

Frustrated, Sam tried to be patient.

"I was a little upset that it was beyond the deadline, but I was assuming: the truck's going to be perfect. Fine. Hopefully, I can have it back before Christmas," he said. "Well, Christmas came and gone. New Years came and gone. I still was without a truck."

Sam made many calls and emails to the body shop and even went to see the progress, but he was not happy as he said there were problems with the repairs.

"I was quoted eight days on the repair. At this timeframe, they've already had it for six plus weeks," he said. "I don't know why the vehicle's not done. So that's when I got Diane involved, because I was actually, at this point, I really did feel that my vehicle was being held hostage."

I got in touch with the fixed operations director at Doug Henry Buick GMC, and he apologized for the repairs taking longer than expected and admitted the initial repairs did not meet Sam's expectations. He added they would do everything they could to get the repairs done right.

It took some time, but Sam finally got good news. His truck is done and now parked back in his driveway.

The rep with Doug Henry Buick GMC added every customer is very important and they make every effort to exceed customers' expectations, but they failed Sam.
